Over three dozens of the world’s greatest and top watch brands turned up to showcase their latest creations at Watches & Wonders 2021 – the premium online watches event platform. Maisons such as Rolex and Patek Philippe dropped hit after hit, and as expected, Rolex’s novelties captured the most attention on the event’s first day.
However, many other noteworthy luxury watchmakers also unleashed new watches that would join their respective collections for 2021. So let’s take a quick look at some of the most notable watch releases of 2021.
Patek Philippe
Patek Philippe’s discontinuation of its iconic Nautilus stainless steel Reference 5711 was quite shocking. It was one of the most coveted timepieces in the world whose waiting lists reached a decade.
Although the brand discontinued the stainless steel Nautilus 5711, Patek released a new green dial version of the fan-favourite Reference 5711.
- The brand offers the new Nautilus with an exquisite olive green dial in the standard configuration or diamond bezel.
- Rumour says that Patek Philippe will produce these watches only for nearly one year.
So you can assume that the new green dial Nautilus will have a long waiting list just like its discontinued sibling.
Another new launch from Patek Philippe in 2021 is the Nautilus Travel Time Chronograph Reference 5990, now available in 18ct rose gold. This new edition also features a similar dual-time display and flyback functionality like its existing steel version.
However, the integrated bracelet and case of the new Reference 5990/1R-001 are now made of rose gold that complements its vibrant blue dial.
Tudor
The Black Bay Fifty-Eight was the most significant release from Tudor last year, featuring a blue dial and blue bezel. For 2021, two precious metal versions joined the popular collection –
- One is an 18ct yellow gold version featuring a green dial and bezel
- Another is a sterling silver variant with a taupe bezel and dial.
You can hardly find a watch crafted from sterling silver these days. Thus, Tudor took up an innovative approach by introducing a silver variant of the Black Bay Fifty-Eight, and it is expected to capture collectors’ attention this year.
Tudor also released an upgraded Black Bay Chrono replacing the steel bezel with an anodised aluminium bezel.
- However, the new versions are available with two dial options – reverse panda (black) bezel and panda (white) bezel.
- The brand has slimmed down the watch’s profile to provide a more refined and leaner overall package.
- Moreover, a self-winding movement powers the new Black Bay Chrono models with date windows.
And Tudor paired the upgraded dials with new black bezels, and the aesthetic resembles the Rolex’s vintage manual-winding chronographs.

Oris
Oris has already introduced many new watches in 2021 for its enthusiasts and collectors. However, the brand also turned up to showcase some of its latest creations at Watches and Wonders 2021. The new novelties include –
- The Oris AquisPro Date will run on the new in-house Calibre 400 movement.
- The watch flaunts a DLC-coated titanium case and the brand’s patented Rotating Safety System that would prevent the timing bezel from accidental adjustment.
- Oris offered the timepiece in black, equipping it with a ceramic bezel and a rubber strap.
- Overall, the AquisPro Date is a professional diver’s watch, water-resistant up to 1,000m.
However, Oris also launched a new Divers Sixty-Five ‘Cotton Candy’ collection at Watches and Wonders. These watches sport bronze case and matching bronze bracelets. Interestingly, the brand offered the new Divers Sixty-Five watches in three colours – lipstick pink, wild green and sky blue.
But the watch does not house the brand’s new in-house movement. Nonetheless, featuring the lively springtime dial colours and a 38mm case size, the new Oris Divers Sixty-Five ‘Cotton Candy’ watches are undeniably a welcoming addition to the brand’s catalogue 2021.
